What is happening?

The UK’s PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network) is being switched off in January 2027. This means the landline of any home or business phone that operates on the old analogue phone network will be switched off. What Is Being Switched Off and When?

The switch off encompasses two parallel projects: the Full Fibre Priority Exchange Programme and the withdrawal of any analogue service that relies on copper lines (PSTN and ISDN). Both will be completed in 2027, while the Fibre Exchange will promise 85% broadband coverage by the end of that year before, 2026. However, the roll-out is already underway.
